FADE THE HEAT
“First-class writing and high drama all the way.” ~Associated Press
David Blackwell, son of the district attorney of San Antonio, Texas, stands before a jury of his peers accused of rape. He claims his accuser staged the rape; ripped off her own clothes, clawed her own flesh. It is an implausible story, one his own defense attorney doubts. While the ensuing courtroom drama is fascinating, it is secondary to Brandon's chilling exposure of all those sworn to uphold the impartiality of justice. Theirs is a corrupt facade: career advancement, politics, personal agendas, and vendettas leave David a victim of the miscarriage of justice. Brandon's skill in tearing away this second layer of the legal justice system is credible, as he is himself a practicing attorney. An unsettling view for readers of courtroom drama. Film rights have been optioned by Steven Spielberg. Recommended.

EXECUTIVE PRIVILEGE
For years, Edgar-nominee (Fade the Heat) Jay Brandon has enthralled readers with novels set in the legal world of his hometown of San Antonio, Texas. But with Executive Privilege, Brandon chooses a wider stage and brings the reader an all-new thriller set against the backdrop of our nationâs capital, the story of a wifeâs desperate attempt to save herself and her young son from her husband, a man involved with selling our nationâs secrets and willing to do whatever he can to ensure that his family doesn't get away. The wife? Myra McPherson, the First Lady of the United States.
When San Antonio attorney David Owens wins an important divorce case, he hopes the victory will bring him some new business. But he never imagined that the First Lady, a Texas native, would walk through his office door. The President is engaged in dangerous dealings . . . and has been unfaithful. But no woman has ever divorced a sitting President, and while every President has secrets, none are like the secrets this President wants to protect: his nefarious dealings with a billionaire businessman willing to use his money and power to manipulate even the leader of our nation. When the news breaks, the publicity is huge, but the threat is even bigger. Orders have been given to kill the First Lady and her son, and all that stands in the way is her divorce lawyer and one Secret Service agent whose oath to protect her charges is more important to her than the power of the President. THANKSGIVING EVE
From the Author:
This is a lovely book, different from all my other titles, so some of my regular readers may hate it, some new and old ones may love it. I hope the latter. I always wanted to write a holiday story. This one started out being a Christmas story, then turned into a story about my favorite holiday, Thanksgiving. But it grew in the telling to encompass the whole holiday season. I hope it resonates for everyone. Ray Seymour receives frightening news from his doctor on Christmas Eve. He goes home, feeling sad and angry, to confront the tense atmosphere of his home. His wife, eight-year-old daughter, and fifteen-year-old son remain separate, not cohering into a family. Ray resolves to make things better in whatever time he has left. Unfortunately, his time has run out. Ray dies that evening.
